My Process

My paintings emerge through a process of layering, washing, scraping and veiling. Working with acrylic, mineral additives and mixed media, I build surfaces slowly, allowing traces of earlier decisions to remain visible. The work explores ideas of erosion, weathering, memory and environmental change, where accumulation and loss occur simultaneously. Rather than depicting a specific place, the paintings seek to evoke the experience of place through atmosphere, materiality and surface.

Building the Surface

Surfaces are developed through multiple layers of paint, washes and mineral textures. Areas are repeatedly buried, revealed and reworked, creating evidence of time and change

Veils and Atmosphere

Thin veils soften, obscure and connect forms, creating atmospheric spaces that sit between memory and place.

My Studio

My studio functions as a space of experimentation where surfaces evolve through repeated cycles of making and unmaking.

Exhibitions and Commissions

Alongside her exhibition practice, Watson Broadfoot undertakes a limited number of private and corporate commissions. Each painting is developed through consultation with the client and created within the artist’s established visual language, resulting in a work that responds thoughtfully to both place and context.
